South American Embroidery Explorations

Join Chilean artist Katy Biele for this 4 part intensive exploration on textile art, creating and finding your own style in embroidery.
We will have different projects for every class, from creation of stitching sample, embroidery on a hoop, and in your own piece of clothing like a jean jacket!

All supplies are provided.
 

First class:  
Embroidery exploration making your own embroidery sampler in a hoop with a pre made design (drawing), trying different sizes of threads and yarn, creating textures and stitches, also we will see  embroidery references from different countries and cultures.

Second class :  
In this class we will experiment embroidery with patterns on pre-designed fabric and then we will sketch with pen and painting to prepare your design ideas for your embroidery project for next class.


Third class :  
In this class we will experiment embroidery on your own Poppet tote bag making your own embroidery design. Also we will start sketching for the next  class project.


Fourth class :

There will be guidance to make your embroidery project on your own selected piece of clothing like a jean jacket, jean shirt or anything that you want to make embroidery on.

 

Katy is a Chilean designer and artist living in Victoria BC, Canada. She creates illustrations with ink and watercolors, and also works in textile art combining embroidery with textures. This style is based  in south american culture, a lot of bright colors and mixing techniques.
